Accreditation Timeline
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation process is ongoing and extends well beyond a single site visit. As part of the Open Pathway, WNMU participates in regular reporting, quality improvement activities, and periodic comprehensive evaluations to demonstrate continued compliance with HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation and commitment to continuous improvement.

| 2024–2025 | Comprehensive Evaluation & 10-Year Reaffirmation | WNMU successfully completed its comprehensive evaluation and received reaffirmation of accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. |
| 2028–2029 | Interim Assurance Review | WNMU will submit an updated Assurance Argument and supporting evidence demonstrating continued compliance with HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation. |
| 2034–2035 | Comprehensive Evaluation | WNMU will undergo its next comprehensive evaluation, including submission of an Assurance Argument and review by an HLC peer review team. |
Continuous Improvement Between Reviews
Although these milestones mark major points in the accreditation cycle, accreditation is an ongoing process. Throughout the cycle, WNMU continues to:
- Assess student learning and institutional effectiveness
- Complete annual institutional reporting required by HLC
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Review academic programs and support services
- Use assessment and planning data to strengthen student success and institutional performance
